7 Strategies to Build your Email List: The CashPT Lunch Hour



Today we talk about the top 7 Strategies to Build your Email List.

What do we even need to build an email list? Two big reasons: Followers aren’t dollars and the money is in the follow up. If there’s one asset I’m going to look at to determine the value of a business, it’s the email list. 

1) Create a Lead Magnet

The most important thing about the lead magnet is the title, the promise, and the follow-up. You really don’t even care if they used the lead magnet. Don’t make them think they have to read you 300 page ebook in order to work with you. Your lead magnet can be as simple as a one page .pdf or a 2-minute video. It just has to be valuable enough for them to give you their name, email, and phone number. 

2) In-Person Workshops

This is for you especially if you see patients in person already. One of the keys is to have people sign and with their name, email, and phone number. But a disclaimer you’ll send them a video of the workshop, or hand outs, or more information. Then they are in your email system. These automations are easy with something like the PT Email Engine™️. Don’t just ask them to sign up for your newsletter. Promise them valuable information. 

3) Free Webinars

This is the number one way I’ve built my email list over the years. It can be 20 minutes, 2 hours, or even 2 days. You need to have a webinar registration page, but you need to have content. You also need a welcome email sequence for your webinar. Then you need to have a follow-up sequence that gives them the next steps.

4) Facebook post

It’s so simple! Ask people if they’d like to see a video you made about a topic. Then when they comment “yes” send them the link, which is really the link to your opt-in form. The first step with this strategy is making the post before you’re ready. Go find out what people want and then create it. 

5) Blog

So, blogs are a little old. But guess what they’re great for, search engine optimization, or SEO. This is how you get people to your website. And then your sidebar has all the link to your free training and lead magnets. 

6) Podcast

This is probably one of the harder things to do, but if you just set out and do it, then it can be great! I actually took my free webinars and made the first 40 episodes of my podcast. Is it the first thing you need to do? It depends on your goals and the things you like. Building your email list is a side effect of a podcast.

7) Free Plus Shipping Book

You give the book for free and the customer pays for shipping. On the opt-in page you gather their email, and that can trigger an email automation. This is a low barrier to entry, but it’s also providing a high-value contact. 

8) Private Facebook Groups

The key is creating a group people want to join. When you set up your requirements for joining, one of them needs to be asking for their email in some way. If you approve them with writing down that information, then you lose it forever. I use something called  Group Leads to capture the information and that connects to Active Campaign.
