A Crossfit & Performance Based Physical Therapy Practice

CashPT Cribs #3: Dr. Brian Campbell of Xcell Movement & Performance

A few weeks ago I was in Raleigh, NC for the 2nd annual North Carolina Physical Therapy Association (NCPTA) legislative day where we were trying to build support for a modernization of our practice act to include spinal manipulation without a physicians referral. In North Carolina, we have had direct access for about 30 years, however it came with the stipulation of a physician’s referral or prescription (verbal or written), and we’re trying to remove this burdensome requirement. On my way home, I had to opportunity to stop by Xcell Movement & Performance, a physical therapy cash-based (or out-of-network) practice specializing in Crossfit athletes, owned by Dr. Brian Campbell PT, DPT, SFMA, FMS in Raleigh, NC.

A Crossfit Performance Rehab Facility

Brian, along with his wife McKenzie Campbell, have recently moved their multi-site and mobile practice into a brand new facility that focuses on athletes and specifically Crossfit. Brian started his practice as a mobile and onsite practice in multiple Crossfit gyms as a way to keep his overhead low as well as to be in proximity to his target patient population. In his practice he also specializes in Trigger Point Dry Needling (another contested issue here in NC, (and with national implications), corrective exercises, group classes, movement seminars and performance assessments as services in his practice. His goal in moving to a central facility is tohave a home base, one that serves the greater Crossfit & performance community in the Ralegh-Durham area, while also being convenient for his lifestyle and family.

Update!

At the time I visited Brian, his new office was still under construction, and since then he’s had some significant work completed, so I asked him to send me some updated pictures and I also swiped the last one from his Facebook page.
