Four Steps to Growing Your Physical Therapy Business

One of the most common questions people ask is how do I grow my practice? How do I get a consistent flow of new patients to  my business?

Today, I give you four simple steps to follow. 

Step 1: Build a list of leads not prospects.

What’s the difference between a lead and a prospect? A prospect is someone who follows you, or is a subscriber to your YouTube channel. A suspect is everyone else who knows nothing about you. Prospects are your followers. FOLLOWERS ARE NOT DOLLARS! You have to move them to your leads list so they become leads. A lead is someone who’s given you their name, phone, number, and email address. Basically they’ve raised their hand and said they need your help.

How do we get people from social media to a leads list? We create a free lead magnet. If you don’t have one of my free lead magnets and you want to start a cash practice you get the CashPT checklist. To build a list of leads, create something extremely valuable for people that teaches them what their problem is, why they might have it, and what they can do about it.

Step 2: Build a relationship with our leads by sending out regular emails. 

One of the ways I do that is a weekly blog and podcast. They’re automated and contain valuable information. After someone downloads a lead magnet, they get a series of personalized based on what they downloaded, I nurture the relationship. I share with you a little bit about me and my journey. I share with you about the success some of our clients and patients have had.

Step 3: Make an irresistible offer (Call to action)

 It’s called a CTA or Call to Action. The call to action is what I want you to do next. It’s not always buy physical therapy or book an appointment. It’s click here to send me information. If you know you can help people, especially if your product or service is transformational and solves a big problem for people then it’s your ethical obligation to learn how to sell it. The only way people are going to get it is if you sell it. Selling isn’t coercion and it’s not pushy. If you ask the right questions, you’ll learn more about who your customers are and you’ll be able to solve their problem. 

Step 4: Set it up so that it happens on autopilot on a consistent basis.


It sounds like a lot of work, and honestly the set-up can be. But it’s really a lot of work to do three or four live workshops a week at all the CrossFit gyms and yoga studios. We don’t have to do that. We get new patients every month without doing in-person live events. We’ve automated it all through systems and software such as the PT Email Engine™️, which is a software that we built. It’s an email automation software very similar to Active Campaign, Constant Contact, or Survey Monkey. It’s pre-loaded with all of my emails, forms, and sequences so you  don’t have to think about what to write or when to send it. You set it up so when people become a lead they also get an automated sequence of emails. In those emails you turn them into patients.

The second objection is it’s too complicated. They say they don’t want to be pushy and email is intrusive. The real question is are you here to grow your business and help people or are you here to complain about all the things you have to do?
